Horrible movie - avoid

Silly and boring, nothing redeemable here. Would suggest avoiding.

I agree with the OP. What about the movie made it a horror flick? Guy growing out of ground = comedy, but for some reason they kept trying to make it a horror movie. And when the action should be centered around the guy in the floor, it's actually meandering about the lonely musician and his hooker girlfriend... like the OP said, there's pretty much no reason to see this movie...

Well, I thought it was a great concept for an absurdist horror comedy, but they really did ruin it by shifting the focus away from "The Growth" to the generic love story, which didn't interest me at all. However, the much bigger problem was the main character, I think. He's probably one of the most immature, childish and sulky douchebags I've ever seen in a movie. How am I supposed to give a sh't about a guy, who doesn't do anything but pity himself, pity himself some more, get all pissy when criticized, moan, complain and blame others for his misfortune? I guess he was supposed to be a self-indulgent @sshole to a certain degree, but they completely overdid it, in my opinion. He was no charming loser with human flaws, he was an annoyance.

Anyway, this was a real uneven movie, with a lot of wasted potential, but I still gave it an above average rating, simply because it was at least competently crafted, with a few good ideas and decent actors, and overall not too boring (except for the awful montages).

Just came across this great quote about this waste of film :

""Growing Out" is a mess indeed. If you can't make something atleast decent when you have a man growing out of the floor literally, then you might as well quit while you're not ahead. "

LOL. Good advice.

Errrr... do you all think that this is a movie about a man growing by the floor?
That's not my interpretation of the movie. I think that the growing man is a methapore and/or alucination of Tom (main character), who created a man who likes him, and encourage him whith his music, etc. Kind like that story about that teddy bear that the other guy told tom. Get my point of view?
