Bruce Lee would roll over in his grave...

I for one, thought this movie was terrible. The entire time I felt as if I was watching a low budget, student film. It was as if production was like, "Hey let's cut costs and film this entire movie in one room. We've already spent the rest of the budget hiring Franco for a few pointless scenes". Dustin Nguyen's character was too hard to watch, sure, I can understand he's supposed to be the serious actor. But I have never seen a character more under developed. In fact, every character felt manufactured. The entire movie was filled with plot holes and scenes which went way too long. In the end, this movie tried way too hard. I went into the theater hoping to see something purely cheesy and fun, instead I got something completely contrived and simply riding on the novelty of being considered an "Asian American film". This is not a good example of the true potential of Asian American film makers. It relies too much on obvious stereotypes and dry humor.

I personally loved the film. I think you need to rethink your definition of what "stereotypes" means. And btw, i was at the LA screening of the film at the DGA and a close friend of the Lee family stood up at the end of the film and told the sold out crowd how Bruce would have been proud of the film. Quite an emotional moment.

I think Bruce Lee would be quite pleased Finishing the Game decided to show the producers as the putzes they were. You can't find another Bruce Lee- they never did, the Game of death was terrible because of it, and its clear from this film that the game of death was surely not what Bruce intended it to be. It's respectful to the man from beginning to end. It merely focuses on the lame tools that kept trying to turn 12 minutes of footage of him into a feature length film.

Ok i really didnt wanna make a whole new thread about the movie, but my message to the OP, i totally agree with you! this movie was terrible, but it had a great cast and their performance was awesome but the movie just sucked.

I dont know how this movie got a rating of 6.9 but wow, this was no good at all. I also think that people from different parts of the world have a different sense of humor and find mild comedy movies extremley funny.

So, what are you trying to say? That we have different opinions or taste? Because that would be stating the obvious, right? What you don't find funny, nobody should?

Anyone who doesn't find the line, 'Last time I checked, yellow was a colour' inspired should really be watching one of those '(Insert Genre here) Movie' movies instead.

This film was exactly what it was supposed to be. The poor production value as you call it would also have been the look of a 1972 documentary that no one cared about. How old are you? As someone raised on 70's era documentary/science/informational shows/films I think it had an authentic feel as well as showing the stereotyping and ludicrous thought processes of studios, specifically in case of what became The Game Of Death.

I had hoped for more comedy, and this was the first Justin Lin film i have seen, but I enjoyed it. I would guess that Franco appeared as a favor to Lin as they made Annapolis together. Lin seems to engender working relationships with a few actors such as the obvious Sung Khang and Roger Fan.

I don't think that's what he meant by low production value. The whole thing felt cheap, in some way other than the stylization.
