This movie sucked my balls

I'm a big Van Sant fan, but he just didn't try with this one. Hire some real actors, dude. The main character was so unlikable and poorly performed, I almost just turned it off, but I stuck it out, hoping it would get better, which it did not. I don't mind slow movies at all, but I hate it when nothing is going on. I just watched Gerry, and that was one of the slowest movies I've ever seen, but it was still awesome. This just sucked my balls.

General rule is people using the term 'sucked my balls' will not like this film.

Is there a rule of thumb for people who use the term "sucked my balls?" I'm not sure it's in use enough to generalize what those people would like.

agreed
poor acting
poor music(did not match any of the scenes whatsoever)
poor steriotypical teenage 'skateboarder' acting
poor direction
and i dont say this alot, but boring film
how this got 7/10 i will never know.

Yeah, I remember using the phrase "---- sucks balls" in year seven. I thought I was really cool until a guy in year nine mocked me for it. Apparently he was more mature than you, in that regard at least. Apparently so was I later that day. I'm not going to bother explaining it to you. If you didn't like it then you probably won't ever.

reply

aw its almost cute how people who hated this movie try to put someone down for using a phrase like 'sucked my balls' because they didnt like it
get over it if you want to like an extreme waste of time movie because you are pretentious and want to try and convey they fact that we 'just dont get it' , than i think it's okay for someone to say something sucked their balls

this movie blows

reply

Thank you, that's exactly what I was getting at. I'm totally comfortable saying something sucked my balls if it's this horrendous, and, like the guy above me, I think it's very funny that there people not only waste their time watching this, but also defending it. Why is it that some people exclusively like the worst movies by otherwise good directors?

The fact is, that the fact that you said the movie sucked your balls is indicative of your personality and thought processes. It basically means that you think it's cool and funny to use that phrase. I respect the fact that you didn't like the movie though, I just think you're a bit of a fool for using a phrase like that. I'm not a prude or anything, I just think it's a pretty immature thing to do.

Also I don't think it's very insightful of you to criticize those who defend the film for wasting their time when you're spending your time in a very similar way, just with the opposite opinion. Surely you can see that the opinion is the only difference between us in that regard.

I'll try to explain to you why I liked the film. Basically, to me, it was a mood movie (a movie that's value and entertainment lies in the mood it creates). For me, it created this really cool, laid back, drifty, meditative mood which I really enjoyed. So I don't look at the long slow mo shots of the main character walking down a hall with music in the background as being symbolic or anything, I just feel that they convey thoughts and feelings.

I think it's the kind of film that varies in entertainment value based on what your expectations or mood at the time of watching it were.

Say what you want about this film, but there is no possible way you can say that Paranoid Park is worse than Psycho. That was a complete waste of film.

reply

I'm not surprised that someone using the term 'this movie blows' would defend the comment 'this movie sucked my balls.'

i am not judging, just assessing. I'm not saying the 'sucked my balls' guy (i hope it's a guy) has worse taste in films than I do, just saying the comment is likley not from a person who'd enjoy this type of film.

reply

Completely agree there is not one talented/likeable person in this whole movie. The acting is painful to watch.

I disagree that some people are predisposed to like this film where others are not based on phrases they use. I tried giving the film another try just to see if I had missed something which all you others saw that made you like this film but I just don't get it.

Appreciate peoples opinions though but I agree that this is really not a good film.

I took a poll and only 27 percent of people who use the term "suck my balls" liked this film, so you are wrong. I didn't poll the women though, but i'm imagining a woman who'd use the phrase "suck my balls" would be missing some teeth, be a regular at a bar called louie's tavern and wear cut-off jean shorts at age 45. She'd likely not be a fan of this film either.

reply

I just started watching this movie and about half an hour into it i had to turn it off.
The main guy could really not act to save his life. The voice overs were awful, you could tell he was reading them off a script.
So bad. I don't understand why people thought this was good.

I think most people are assustomed to polished hollywood dialogue that stilted, awkward dialogue immediately sends up a red flag "crappy movie." I almost fell into this trap too, but the soundtrack and imagery was so amazing that it kept my attention. upon reflection, the amateurish dialogue is actually much more realistic and paints a better portrait of teenage angst

go to a high school and listen if they talk more like this film or beverly hills 90210

I liked this movie and I will from time to time say that something "sucked my balls". I also liked "Downfall", "You Don't Mess With The Zohan", "Irreversible", Beavis and Butthead and am an expert in the use of apostrophe's. I will however NEVER say "my bad".

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!
