What did Nic find on Paul's dresser?

After when she found the hair in the bathroom, she goes into his bedroom, looks around and than find a piece of square black fabric on his bedside table. What was it? I saw there was some hair on it. Was it a scrunchy? A fabric bracelet?

I think it was a scrunchy or something she had in her hair before she slept with the man

Very careless of her wife, but would hair be such a giveaway, even distinctive red hair like JM's? How was she so SURE it was her wife's?

She wasn't sure; that's why she checked to bedroom. What she found there confirmed her suspicions.
