Our favorite thing on the network are the cake challenges. We especially love those holiday themed ones. In our opinion (spouse and I) the Halloween was the best. How about you? Which ones did you like?

The cak challenges are pretty nifty, but I always end up thinking, "If it doesn't taste good, what's the point in a freakin' cake?" Seriously, since taste isn't even graded it really takes something away from it since it's, you know, CAKE.
I know they make some awesome stuff but it would actually be worth something if they even gave a single thought to taste.

It's funny that you say that because I had the exact same argument with my cousin last night. If it's not edible then it's not a cake and doesn't count. This was during the Simpson movie cake challenge.
shareAnd isn't Bronwyn (sp) a bit of a poor sport. She's won a few of these challenges and underestimated her competition. The winning cake - Krusty - was amazing, even if the back was plainer than the judges wanted.

Exactly. If it doesn't taste good then I'd pick a Duncan Heines cake over one of their crazy insane creations any day of the week.

yeah, at least on the Sweet Sixteen one they had taste as part of the criteria. (That cookies & cream one that won looked awesome!)
shareMy husband and I love watching the cake Challenges. I was not impressed by the behavior of the birthday girl on the Sweet Sixteen Show. Everyone made such beautiful cakes. REA ANN (yes, I spelled your name wrong) you came off as a self centered, little brat.
shareI really enjoy the Gingerbread Houses and Mansions! They are really neat! I would love to be able to do that stuff, just not that talented!
shareI think it's fun to watch them make it and stuff, I just usually hate the outcome. It seems like the wrong person wins every time (at least in my opinion).

I agree ... a few times I've agreed with the winner, or at least been okay with it. But there are ones I just do not agree with. The Pixar one, I really thought Bugs Life should have won. And I'm sorry, but the blond lady who did win for her Finding Nemo cake ... I just don't like her. Each time I see her on one of these, by the time we reach the halfway mark I just want to throw kitchen gadgets at her face.
Now that they do make them taste the cakes as well, I would love to see some recipes, especially for the buttercreams. But they don't post them.
