New to the show

I have seen maybe 3 episodes from the first season and 2 from the second.
I can't help but wonder about Geof, is it normal for him to look and sound like he's on a permanent high?
I do like the show and I'm sad to hear it's running it's last season but I still have a lot of episodes to catch up on.
