Why Didn’t She Put Up a Fight or Run?

That’s what struck me as the most interesting aspect of the racism and the fear which drove the woman’s existence. The meat throwing I took as people being dickheads. They were even fighting amongst themselves. They’d probably throw meat at their own grandmother if she didn’t cook enough food at Thanksgiving. But I took her lack of fighting back as a sign she was really racist, as she didn’t know, in her mind, what these “foreigners” were capable of.

the whole movie is about numb senseless characters, the only charecter who has some sort of humanity is Fausto which in th end ends up condemming himself for killing her. the only time the son has any real feelings is when he sees his dead mother and kills Jesus. Seh didn't fight back because her life was pointless, she had a son who didn't even look at her. Her only incentive in life is getting high and watching tv. It's funny because Fuasto and Jesus are company to this lonely sad person.

Right on; she completely misjudged these innocuous foreigners because of her racism. She may have even thought they were barbaric enough to shoot her with that shotgun they were toting.

Whoa whoa, missing the point here. She was not racist, she did not think less of them. They were never ready to kill her. Calling these characters barbaric is in it self a racist statement. The final scene is to redeem Fausto in the eyes of the viewer, Jesus gets redeemed right before dying when he asks Fausto why he did it. Another thing, the crack, she's an enabler of an altered state of mind which helps end her mind. The crack is there, Jesus knows what it will do, Fausto does not, he was high when he killed her.

i think you missed the sarcasm there.

I think the reason she didn't fight back was because her life was empty and meaningless. She was divorced and her son was a stranger to her. It was the most interesting evening she'd had in years. And she found the two attractive. She was attracted to Jesus. (I thought Fausto was the cute one.)

It didn't see any signs that she was racist.

She was not racist at all. As opposite to it,two Mexicans were racist talking about killing gringos.
she had numerous chances to escape or take that gun but she even did not try to do anything because the director wanted it so unrealistically. The directors have camera and script,so they shot whatever they want to.
Her life neither meaningless nor pointless.she had a son and a whole life to live.If every woman who argues with her children would want to die then there wouldn't be any woman around.
By the way this flick is not so good. One poster said acting was great.huh?acting was awfully bad, even amateurish and this made the movie unbeliavable.Another simple, cheap torture porn with some social issues to make this flick deeper unsuccesfully.
