I've just watched this brilliant HK drama, one part that stands out for me (probably the only 'action' scene in the movie) is when the customs team raid 'the kitchen', damn its seriously well done, the bit with customs boss sticking his hand through the door, you just knew something was going to happen to him, not that though!!! Also when they jump out the window onto AC unit! Brilliant movie
shareThe customs boss was also in KILL ZONE (SPL) with Donnie Yen, Simon Yam, and Sammo Hung, and played another good role as a renegade cop. But in PROTEGE he really gets to go over the top. He's a fun actor to watch.
The window escape scene is harrowing, especially when that guy falls. That's one of the most realistic high-fall death scenes I've ever seen. I have a fear of heights so stuff like that really makes me queasy.

Yes, that scene stuck out, but not positively in my mind.
First off, the hand scene looked unrealistic and weird. You can't severe a hand like this with a *hammmer*. Secondly, the guy had plenty of time between the hit with the hammer to pull back.
The other thing why I didn't like that scene is that it adds an unnecesary element of gore to the movie. It was just out of place. The rest of the movie doesn't have anything like this, so what was the point?
