Did this movie make any money?

I was just curious, Looked kind of expensive to make.

And i dont think it was heavily marketed either..

Any ideas on its gross, Id assume DVD sales where excellent?

DVD sales brought in 15,000,000 revenue. Film cost 35 millio to make.

Ouch. I saw it in theaters when it opened and there was hardly any people there.

well it made $18 million in the box office and if it made $15 million in DVD sales then it almost made a profit.

I just checked BoxOfficeMojo. It cost $35M to make, in theaters it grossed $20M worldwide, and on DVD it pulled in $24M in the first few months. So it now has a solid profit.

This is a very late reply, but your conclusion is wrong. A film like this must make at least twice its "budget" to break even. The budget does not include marketing or distribution costs, which are quite high. Further, theater chains don't play the movies for free - they get 1/3 or more of the box office gross. The filmmakers also have to share part of the DVD or streaming income. I don't know if this movie got to $70 million in earnings by 2016, but it likely didn't make much profit, if any.

"Have you seen 'Walk Hard?'"

"No thanks"

i saw it in a packed theater opening weekend, fwiw. people were rolling in the isles. the only comedy I've seen where people laughed harder was Ted, and that was bizarre because I was literally the only one not laughing
