That's why it failed, I think. Peep Show is of such high quality but this just felt like a more clumsy, softer, rougher-around-the edges imitation of it. With magic tacked on top.
I think it failed thanks to the direction. Really dull and plain. It did make it look like a TV show on the big screen. Which isn't very good at all.

Deftones makes the world a better place
It was entertaining enough, but more of a TV special than a full cinematic release.
Maybe edited down to an hour for telly, or chopped into 3 30 min episodes, would have worked better.
