I just saw the film thanks to a friend of mine who has the dvd, and I really liked it - it isn't peep show, but it was still funny & fun to watch. So I was a bit surprised to see the low rating it has on imdb - until I realized it wasn't released as a tv film (from the way it was shot & pretty much everything about it, I assumed it was made for tv). Does anyone else think it might have gotten a better reception if it'd been aired on tv as opposed to being released into cinemas?

Yep, looks like a TV special, alright. Pity, it's destined to fade into relative obscurity.

yup one or 2 six part-series definitely would've been better

Indeed. It probably suffers the most from attempting to be a coherent eveningfilling experience, where a show can get away with rather weak 25 minute archs.
