Sounded right to me!

It appears that my previous post about her acting/accent has been deleted, but I thought it was almost unwatchable. It was very distracting, even though the other actors were completely believable to me. Very miscast.
For the record, I almost never post about something I don't like (Wicker Man!), but I was posting this morning about another bad Lifetime performance, likening the poor acting to Rohm's in this movie. I was pretty amused when I saw a promo for the Amber movie right after the other one ended...

Gotta agree..I am from TX and I sure don't sound like that!

This movie has such a good story to tell, I wish they had invested a little more time and effort in to getting the correct "accent". I just looked up the actress that played the mother and realized she is from Germany. I'm sure she's a fine actress, but could they not find anyone else? I'm from GA so I've heard my fair share of southern accents and hers was so fake it was distracting.

I also agree it good movie but they should find someone with texas accent

as soon as i opened this post i KNEW you were going to say that, and i couldn't AGREE more. ugh i cringed everytime i heard her speak...i couldn't even finish the movie.

oh thank heavens - I'm not American so I didn't want to criticise but after reading this thread I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was extremely distracted by her accent - it was bordering on laughable and sounded very caricaturistic (ok - so I made the word up!) But I found it hard to relate to her on that basis.

And thanks to the native Texans who clarified the accent issue.

Oh wow, the over the top accent made this movie unwatchable for me too. It wasn't a texas accent, it was something else. Everytime Amber's mom, Donna, would talk it made me cringe. She also referred to her dad as y'all. Anybody in the south knows y'all is used for 2 or more people, not when you are talking to 1 person.

I'm not a Texan, but I am a Southerner and yeahhh, I'm watching the movie now and I'm like "wow..." every time I hear her talk. lol

I'm familiar with Elisabeth from "Law & Order," and love her on that show. But yeah, I wasn't too impressed with this, unfortunately.

Several months after the last post, but yeah her accent sucks. I'm barely into the 2nd scene and I'm annoyed where I should be saddened or mortified.

I liked this movie, but I have to agree that her accent wasn't good at all.

The way she said detective made me want to puke. I am from the south and we do not talk like that. Sad movie though.
