There's creeps and there's incredibly, twisted, disgusting creeps capable of unthinkable acts who need to be tortured and burned. Park might be in the first category.

I was so mad when I saw that. FIVE YEARS! I swear, they should have gotten a better lawyer for that case. One witht eh argument: "Had the police not found Nichole, he would have raped and murdered her." Then he probably would have gotten life.

When someone does something liek that (kidnaps someone, murders someone with intent, or rapes someone) they should go to prison for life. What do you think that person's gonna do when they get out? REPEAT THEIR CRIMES. Only this time, they'll do it with a vengenc,e so they'll be even more dangerous. And this time, they probably won't care if they die in th process as long as they get revenge on the person they kidnapped, raped, or the family of the person they killed. Why doesn't the law take that into consideration? And if they do, why don't they say "SCrew the trials, lock 'em up and throw away they key." < sighs> Stupid fuccking people.

<GRRRRRRRR> That works me up every single time. EVERY SINGLE TIMe.
It's people like Nichole's kidnapper who should burn in hell. I know that sounds harsh, but people like GLen who do that to people, especially children, aren't jsut sick, they're evil, pure and simple. How can the law allow these people to walk free after not even so much as a misdemeanor punishment?

reply

Just playing devil's advocate here because I basically agree about child molesters (pimps are second on my list), but - did Park have a record? The implication is that he did not. If he got to the age of 60 or so without acting out on his attraction to young girls, it could be argued he is not the threat that other sickos are. That is to say there was little chance he was going to rape and murder. The film in fact showed it kinda tore him up when he had to threaten the child with harm to keep her quiet.

reply

"It tore him up..."

I'm sorry, but i cannot feel any sympathy toward him. "It tore him up..." Oh, the poor pedophile. Forget the little girl who was scared, alone and in mortal danger. Who knows what that did to her years later?

And if he was willing to go to the trouble of kidnapping her, whose to say he wouldn't have raped her and murdered her? No one knwos what he would have done, but there was a BIG chance that he was going to rape her.

And so what if he didn't have a record? if he did it to one little girl, that should be enough to get him put away for life. Because there is always the chance that once he gets out, he'll do it again to the little girl, or to someone else. Why should the law take that chance? THE CHILDREN OF THIS COUNTRY are certainly worth these bast@rds rotting in jail. That's what should happen to people like Glen.

reply

true dancequeen kids are more important than those sick b@stard who harm inocent little childern and once someone harm a child murder/rape they no longer are human and will suffer in prison.

But sadly, we don't live in a perfect socioty, and the law is willing to take the chance of our children's safety just because "pedophiles and abusers are people too and are people of America and deserve rights just like everyone else."

<sighs> Stupid fuccing people. I said that already, didn't I?

reply

you know what I think once someone harm a person like sexually assaulted and murder them their no longer human being even know they are and when someone sexually harm a child (make my blood boil)they have no heart and when murder a child the murder fill with hate and same goes anyone who like to harm people by murder them or sexually assaulted them.

There are two sides to this story. Mr. Park's side was not told. There never was any intent to harm Nichole and the actor played him as a creepy person. He is not. After all he & Sharon were friends for over 10 years and she never expressed those thoughts about being creepy. The falling out between Sharon & Glenn was because one of Nichole's teachers mistakenly thought he was Nichole's Dad and this upset Sharon. He was concerned about Nichole's welfare as there was someone else lurking in the house that night. His mistake was not waking Sharon or calling the police. He thought he could handle it himself and explain it to Sharon the next morning. Just poor judgement on his part Jumping to the conclusion that an older man was only interested in a young girl for sexual purposes is just wrong and very judgemental and immature.

reply

What are you talking about? The guy stole her from her bedroom and told her if she made any noise he would hurt her. He kept threatening and scaring her if she told anybody.

He WAS creepy. Anybody that steals a child is creepy.

reply

Also not to mention Glenn had a crowbar sitting next to him in the truck when they were at the gas station and warn Nicole not tell anyone she was kidnapped or he would use the crowbar.

Wow, you actually think that story is credible? He saw someone lurking in the house so he just takes Nichole to solve the problem? So nice of him to care if Sharon was in danger or not. Why in the world would he not call the police? Because only he could save Nichole and he had to take her to another state to do it? Please, let me sell you some swampland.

Nice post from jescci. Good to see a rational devil's advocate amongst the fervor. To add to their post, Park had multiple opportunities to harm Nichole, sexually or otherwise (they were alone in his house together for God's sake!), but did not. He only became violent at the prospect of not being able to be around Nichole anymore.

Now, I'm not saying he should have kept looking after her, so simmer down with the pitchfork mob mentality :-) 5 years prison was clearly not the right sentence...I'd be *very* worried for the real Nichole. Actually I'd have argued he be committed indefinitely (maybe even for life) to a mental insitution. I am saying he was obviously mentally ill and I don't think demonizing them and calling them "evil" or "not human" is the answer either. Its great that our children are more protected now with the Amber Alert, but there still seems to be great ignorance in our society concerning mentally illness (its the person's fault they're crazy, etc). They are flawed humans like all of us. Some more flawed than others, but still human.

Not to mention the issue of loneliness...Glenn seemed like a very lonely person (common among the mentally ill) and its obvious he very much enjoyed the company of Nichole (did they make her character almost unrealistically adorable or what?). No wonder he wanted to spoil her and make her smile...who wouldn't? lol Its sad our society doesn't have much tolerance for the lonely people either. People really take their relationships and how "normal" they are for granted, I think, or they flaunt it. Sorry, soapbox moment! I mean, I'm happily married now, but went thru years I wouldn't wish on anyone. Its not unthinkable for someone as lonely as Glenn to develop fantasy relationships - you just can't act on it...especially not with children.

Again, I'm not saying people like Glenn shouldn't be held responsible for endangering the lives of children or others, but that's why we have mental institutions - use them! Then our kids will be safer and the mentally ill will hopefully get treatment. And if, after 5 years, Glenn still wasn't right in the head, Nichole wouldn't have to worry about him coming back for unfinished business. Everyone wins :-) So its obvious to me an institution would help Glenn much more than a prison...and murderers, rapists, and other thugs feeling superior to ANYONE is a joke. Whatever helps them sleep at night...

I think he is still in prison...but I hope he is getting raped in the A** by a big fat lifer named Bubba...he and ANYONE who kidnaps or touches a child deserves to be castrated with a glass bottle!

He had a crowbar in the *MOVIE*, but according to webslueths, when the cop pulled Park's truck over, there were no weapons in the vehicle. Filmmakers do take some liberties sometimes.

What I find shocking and sad is that single mothers trust someone they barely know with their kids. I'd rather leave my kids home alone, honestly. I have three kids that I've raised completely on my own for the last decade and I would never trust someone I don't know with my kids. I don't care how desperate I am. Have some brains people. No I'm not making excuses for the sickos who do things to hurt children...they should be publicly executed...but parents need to have more common sense. Especially if you are a single mother or father. I just couldn't imagine leaving my daughter with some old weirdo. You can't tell me he never have off any vibes...
