I've slowly noticed that there is quite a variety of ages that seem to be fans of them.

Thus...How old are you?

Although my mom says she really dislikes the show, she was laughing at the one when sam and zach are married and there role playing and the safe word banana. I dont know wht the sketch is called.

reply

I am 15, my sister is 17 and we both watch the show. My mom enjoys certain sketches, like Race War, and the "Look what I bought!" one. I don't know what its called, but its the one with the black guy and the drums.

I'm 19 and my little brother is 17. We both love the show. It's interesting to see how many people have commented on their moms liking the show; my mom rolls her eyes at some of the raunchier sketches, but for the most part both of my parents find it hilarious.

There seems to be an inordinate number of very young adolescent (and not so adolescent) fans of the show. Though I'm kind of combining the conversations of two separate threads into one post; I'm wondering if this dynamic will change with the move to the Independent Film Channel. (no, not a drop of pretension; it's just that all of the "what? never-heard-of-it?!!?"s are kind of killing me...) Well, I'm pretty much hoping that it does. These guys are -namely, as leader, Trevor is- intelligent enough to deserve greater exposure to, and attention from, members of a more adult consumer audience: something that Fuse could never really give them. Hell - I only found the show by accident, distractedly changing channels at 1am. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the mix of the fan base with season 2.

The promise of a more absurdist slant to the show has already got me more excited than I really should be; you then take IFC -a more fitting place for the surreal("my name's jerry")- and...well...mmmmmrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Yeah I was thinking of that too. IFC isn't for 16 year old girls, it's for like older film "intellectual" people. Their FUSE fanbase surprised me because likewise I'm so used to their live show sunday nights with adults and 20 somethings making up the audience.

Can't say that I'm not a little jealous, Jordan. I've not been able to attend a live show yet, but the online audience... yeah... I was pretty surprised and, quite frankly, disappointed (save one or two). IFC should afford them a, not only, chronologically older audience, but also a more mentally and emotionally aware group than they currently have - no matter the ages involved. This should be a great move for them in terms of any plans to move beyond TWKUK some day (still, the mind keeps going, specifically, to how far Trevor should be able to go). I'm really happy for them/him. Here's to hoping that the spurts of guilt-ladened feedback aren't dulling anybody's joy too much...

EDIT: OOOO - Trevor Moore on set with Henry Rollins! Now there's a 1/2 hour of talk I'd LOVE see.

I was on wkuk's myspace and I couldn't believe some of the fans didn't know that IFC existed! I don't think you can blame their young age..entirely. My sister is 37 and and just a few years ago she thought sundance was a porn channel.

reply

HAAAAA - running free and open?! Sounds like an assumption my sister -also 37- would have made. Yeah, that's what I was getting at with part of my last post; fishbowl-like cluelessness, unfortunately, isn't always entirely related to age...

(herm... reading that, the ability to articulate is clearly not with me today)

im an 16 year old girl who watches IFC...i dont think IFC is the right channel for this show though. i think it would do much better on comedy central.

why you freaking out there's no need to freak out...(LONDON)

reply

As Jordan (or somebody) offered in another thread: I believe they'd get completely lost amongst all the other shows upon shows if they got stuck into the Comedy Central rotation. Look what happened to Stella.... Don't know about anybody else's take, but I, for one, thought it was funny as hell. Where is it now? On IFC, our boys, as mentioned by whoever when talking about Fuse, would "Be Unique".

...imh(agreeing)o...

reply

Aerial, that would be horrible. It wouldn't be the same. Comedy central is known for stifling comics creativity. Also, Mtv has also given comics the same awful treatment. The one good thing about wkuk debuting on fuse is that they gave them complete creative control. I'm assuming that will continue on IFC and it'll be uncensored. So honey this gonna be awesome.

I don't know how many people know this but it seems that...IFC is Fuse's sister net?

I found that to be interesting...does that mean they are owned by the same people???

are funny too though.

22. I was introduced to it by my sister in law and her husband, 23 and 24 respectively.

I *SO* can't wait for season 2. The beeps took a lot of the effect out of the show for me on certain episodes, so I'm looking forward to seeing it in it's original intended state; without akward censorship on the dialogue.

reply

Where did you find that out? I always wondered who owned fuse.

^Right there...it says and I quote...

[Net] has acquired the first two seasons of "The Whitest Kids U' Know," a musical sketch-comedy show from "Kids in the Hall" exec producer Jim Biederman. First season aired on IFC sister net Fuse; IFC has acquired the first and second seasons.

EDIT: btw - according to Trevor, the IFC season 2 will be 10 new episodes with uncensored replays of season 1. t'was my question (EDIT deux: add "on www.whitestkids.com"), complete with follow-up wounded whining.

excuse me whilst i continue to embarassingly "tee hee" in private....

I'm 32, and I've loved sketch comedy since I was 5 years old and watching Monty Python with my dad...of course, I didn't get it half the time, but it was still fun to watch. I'm a huge fan of The Kids in the Hall, so when I heard Jim B. was producing another sketch show, I had to check it out. I love the WKUK! I've seen their live show a couple times and met the guys, and they are all AWESOME!

And about IFC and Fuse being "related," it would explain how Fuse got ahold of Ed Wood.
