Yes for £8000 it's an achievement but that's it. The acting was terrible, it was like watching a bad play.
The whole movie was filmed with an overexposed look on a beach & it looks like a beach, not an alien planet!
I'm a big sci-fi fan but this movie did absolutely nothing for me.
What is L8000? $43.00 U.S.? This is the worst movie I have ever seen. Did they even have a set or a prop? I think all the money was spent on cigarettes.
shareI agree, this movie was terrible. Just comparing it to another super low-budget production called The Other Side, which cost $15,000 and had a much more interesting story and far superior action scenes (in fact, they were amazing for such a shoestring budget), it comes off totally lacking.
And comparing it to one of its obvious inspirations, the awesome Pitch Black, The Planet just comes off completely awful in every respect.

Stirton and company did a remarkable thing, making a fairly competent film on what others pointed out would not have covered the catering cost for an American flick.
