Heroes, all

I watched this last night and thought I hated it until I watched the "making of" extra feature. What these plucky Scots were able to achieve with almost no money and ten days (outdoor!) shooting time was amazing and inspirational. Perhaps most impressive was that the director had to teach himself CGI animation in order to finish post-production. That's right, they did their own animation and learned it on the fly. The wankers at Scottish Screen should sing "mea culpa" and throw money at Stirton's gang. Even if you think the movie falls short, watch the "making of" feature and see if you don't find yourself rooting for these fellows and feeling a bit less judgmental about the end result. They are heroes, all.

Many thanks for this. I think watching the Making of is kinda key to enjoying the film. It is a very cheap film, but we did our best with what we had - not much! He have managed to get a budget boost for the next one and we hope you get a chance to see it as well.

Peace,

I have to admit I was ambivalent about the flick at first. It reminded me too much of the filmed-in-Russia SF flicks that Philip J Roth produces for the SciFi Channel.
BUT! Like you, watching the "Making Of" material gave me a whole new appreciation of the film.
My buddy Ted Haigh works in Hollywood. I saw one of his weekly paychecks for ROAD TO RENDEMPTION and it's safe to say he could have used it to underwrite the entire film and still have change left over.

Agreed, the cast and crew of THE PLANET are heroes all!
