Rewatching Rise Pt 2

Am I the only one who thinks Emma got really screwed? And when Charlie smacked her ..if I were Emma I would have kicked the living dead out of her. Her family might've been dead and Charlie was gonna smack her? Hyperventilating or not....None of this was Emma's fault. The ending/ ending narrative was brilliant but I'm still so mad at Charlie's character and Cook's inability to refuse her.
