I did a marathon with Superman ll The Richard Donner Cut

I also did it with Spiderman, Spiderman ll and Superman The Movie titled When Great Power Comes With Great Responsibility. You guys can check it out on my blog.

I prefer this version of Superman ll over the Richard Lester version because its less campy, more serious and dramatic, and just ultimately feels more like part ll of the first film. The scene where Lois shoots Clark to get him to admit he's superman is pure magic. Reeves action I that moment was incredible. If I had any criticisms of this cut its that I wish Donner used alittle bit of Lester's footage to fix a few things. The true Superman ll lies within the footage of both films. I just wish Donner used alittle more of Lester's footage and it would be perfect.

The ultimate Superman II would be most of Donner's cut with some of the best moments from the Lester version added in. But I think the Superman II Donner Cut was put together just to give fans a sort of "what if" type of experience. Obviously Donner couldn't totally pull off his true Superman II cut years later.

I agree!

Disappointing. I saw the heading and thought this was going to be an inspiring tale of someone who'd ran a marathon whilst listening to the audio track of Superman II.

Instead it's actually the story of some dude who parked his ass on his sofa and watched four old superhero movies back to back. Not exactly inspirational after all...

I have never bothered watching the Donner cut. I maybe in the minority but I like the original cut we got with Superman 2. Plus from what I heard they get rid of my favorite scene of the original Lester cut where Superman flies to Paris to rescue Lois and stop the terrorists. Although if Donner had been allowed to do the original movie his way with Superman catching both nuclear missiles and throwing them into outer space, and the spinning Earth backwards in time had been done in Superman 2 instead, I may feel differently about it. But now I just don't feel like watching his Donner version of Superman 2 with the spinning Earth backwards scene added in thus undoing everything that happened the entire movie. And you can complain about the Superman kissing Lois and her memory getting erased but it doesn't take away from the fact he has to live with what he did and still has to apologize to the president and to the world for not being there when Zod and his lackeys took over everything.

I believe this Donner Cut is a significant upgrade from the silly Lester theatrical version.
