Ridiculous that Clark needs his dad's permission to have a girlfriend
It made Superman look like a weakling. Also, Jor-El was a prick in this. A man who'd lived a normal life on his own world with a wife expects his son to be a bloody monk?!

shareYeah especially seeing as it is Brando, a man who had more women than most actors did.
But yeah it was strange but Lois is a weakness to Clark as the villians can discover that the way to hurt him is through the ones he cares for

In the other version of the movie, it was somewhat implied that Superman needed to get rid of his powers to have sex. I'm this version, he had sex with Lois before giving up his powers, which was odd.
I'm not sure that villains getting at Clark through Lois was a factor in Jor-El's attitude.
I have always thought that he had to become human or when having sex with Lois, he would have killed her when he climaxed. No joke intended. I believe that his Kryptonian body's functions would have done that.
shareThere's a very old story that explores that, "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex", by Larry Niven. Every old-school nerd read it back in the day, it's funny but kind of gross, and goes into the ways that sex between a fully powered Kryptonian male and a human female would be... impossible.
So yes, Superman would have to give up his powers to safely have sex with a human woman, I can buy that. What I always had a problem with is his ability to give up his powers, because surely they're inborn and couldn't be given up any more than a human could voluntarily give up their sense of smell. But the movie's so good that by that point the willing suspension of disbelief kicks in, but if you think about it...
