THE scene with Carol I

simply brilliant, thinking about it..it's not simple at all, but is by far the highlight of the movie for me.
i wish i'll get this feeling again watching a romanian movie. it "blew my sock right off". thank you, thank you! (director, actors)

You watched this film at the TIFF, right? Lucky you. I`ve heard it`s a wonderful one (in a Hollywood style, though).

I think this is the first Romanian film made after 1989 that features a scene with the great king Carol I. It`s very comforting to finally be able to see a film about the good past years of our country with no propaganda in it.

Another great historical figure that would deserve to appear in a new film (why not, by Nae Caranfil) is the Prince Cuza. His story is extraordinary, and I`m positive that a film about him (made honestly and completely avoiding the idealizing and romanticizing), would attract big audiences - in Romania and maybe in the Republic of Moldova, where, because of the Russian propaganda they know almost nothing on the Union hero.

I came up with this idea after seeing some still photos from "Restul e tacere" and noticing the great physical resemblance between the actor Ovidiu Niculescu and Al.I. Cuza :)

Great movie indeed. The best out of the ten movies I saw this year at TIFF.

great movie, but the best thing about if was the way the cluj audience reacted to it. i've never experienced such emotion in a movie theater. that was what made this year's tiff my best ever.

if this was the best movie at TIFF then the others were pure garbage. I'm sorry to say that but I was very disappointed. Nae just lost it this time

I think you lost it, mate. No offense, but you're really just coming off as a shmuck by saying that and not backing it up at all by examples or detailed criticism. I'd actually retort to that, if I had something to retort to.

On a more constructive note, yes, it's overacted and a bit too grandiose at time, but it all fits perfectly. The dialog, the script, the acting, I enjoyed each and everyone of these elements, along with well-constructed - albeit at times stereotypical - characters. Aside from all of these, there are so many subtleties and small direction details that make this movie so wonderful.
