And Lord of the Rings!!!

I love all the movies you mentioned too.

I just saw Out of the Blue for the first time last week on tv, and i thought it was fantastic!

So much quiet atmosphere, and no hollywood mood music added to let you know what you should be feeling.

Its pretty slow moving to begin with to be sure, but rather than being bored, i could feel the tension building the whole time i was watching, until the first shots were fired.

I especially liked the fact that Karl Urbans character didnt really end up being a big hero, just a country cop caught in an unexpected and shocking event.

Very moving and believably acted by all the people involved.

Loved it!!

Heavenly Creatures is plenty known since Lord of the Rings, even before then it was fairly well known. Once Were Warriors should definitely be known, it's an iconic NZ film.

How about Goodbye Pork Pie!? The NZ film Boy that was released earlier this year is amazing also. There are a lot of great NZ films, seeing some of these makes me so proud to be a kiwi!

Bad Blood
has to be listed here.

It is almost the exact same subject matter -
the only real difference being was the gunman was not a loner;
he was a farmer married with 2 children.
It is also a true story that happened in New Zealand.
It happened in 1941.
