It was a one-off show to celebrate the queens birthday and 100 childrens literature. It was a wondeful day, and JK Rowling was actually there.

Trust me, you didn't miss out on anything special. Think Comic Relief... then think ten times worse, thats how bad it was. I laughed my ass off whenever the camera cut to the Queen watching the show, because she looked bored out of her ass. This was the pantomine equivelent of Vogon poetry!
But in answer to the OP's question. This was basically a staged play done in Bukingham Palace or some place. The story centred around the Queens Handbag going missing, and some people have to try and find it? And along the way, they meet up with various famous characters from childrens books, played by well known actors.
Then at the end, the Queen comes on stage and goes 'yeah, basically people have gotta read more books', and thats the end......... No seriously, thats really it.

yes to the OP this was for real. and unlike the poster above me i actually enjoyed watching it wen it was on. It was made for children and it worked well
