Not into metal.... Should i watch this?

So....
Knowing almost nothing about metal, i only like it at a superficial level, like metallica or so
Watched the first episode online and didin't liked it
I can give it another try but.....
Not being into metal i don't think i'm going to like this
Should i give it another try?

Sorry for my english by the way

I'm not especially into most metal, but I've been around it, and its musicians, a lot. So for me, the show's hilarious, because it's actually not that much of an exaggeration! It's certainly how they'd like to live... kind of a schoolboy daydream of what it might be like to be a famous metal musician.

IMO the whole series is kind of one long in-joke. If you do know metal-heads (whether you are one or not), I think it's one of the funniest animated shows for adults that there is. Without that frame of reference, it may not work.

Because the visuals are so great, and often so funny in and of themselves, I would recommend giving the first or second episode another look - on your TV, rather than on a computer screen. It makes an enormous difference. If you still don't take to it then, yeah, give it up, it isn't your thing.

Yeah, I'm not into metal either but find the show really funny.. and the bits of metal they do play aren't too bad, but typically the most music you'll hear is really just in the intro and outro of the show. Other than that it's kinda like a modern day Spinal Tap.

Good comparison, there's definitely a lot of Spinal Tap-style humor here.

But yes if you can stand any metal music, this is too good to pass up on. Really!

Give it a few episodes. If it's not for you then you've only lost maybe an hour.

this show is absolutely brilliant. i can't stand metal and it's one of my favorite cartoons of all time.

It's a funny parody that you can appreciate on the "crazy superstars with crazy fans" schtick, but the more you know about metal (especially death/black metal) the more in-jokes and references you'll get. Like Burzum's restaurant is named for the metal project Burzum. Same for Dimmu Burger (Dimmu Borgir), etc.

It depends. I've gotten a few people who were very unfamiliar with extreme metal to enjoy Metalocalypse. The writing is actually very good, but there are a lot of references to the metal "scene" that would go over most peoples' heads(even a lot of metalheads).

Dethgov is one of my favorite episodes so maybe you could give that a try.

I know I'm a year late, but I got my friend into it. The closest he'll get to metal is Nirvana and most of his usual music is gangsta rap.

The one thing that got him to like this show was Rockso the Rock N' Roll Clown (he does cocaine). Just seeing the episode with Murderface's birthday in the first season made him absolutely fall for the show.

I love metal and I love the show so I'm not the person to ask. But the show is absolutely hilarious in so many ways. I always try to watch an entire season before deciding whether or not I enjoy a show. If I can't enjoy the season, I'm not continuing on. The first episode has to be really bad for me to just stop watching it altogether.

I hope you enjoyed it and got into it. If you like the other shows that Adult Swim puts out, chances are you'll enjoy this one too.

I don't like metal but I enjoy this show. I'm sure that intimate knowledge of the genre would help you understand a few in-jokes here and there, but it mostly works so long as you understand the idea of the cult of celebrity.
