Question about the very end

So what do you make of the end? I kind of got the vibe that he really did dig up Anna, but was then caught by Deacon (when he found out that the car that crashed was not Paul's).

But I'm not exactly sure, I watched it pretty late and stupidly deleted the recording of it.
