Why is there any discussion whether she was alive or not?

It was plain obvious that she was alive and that the funeral guy was a serial killer.

I don't see how, with that many clues, someone could interpret the movie in any other way.

Unless ofc they weren't paying attention to what was going on...

Agreed in full.

It is so obvious that she's alive throughout the film that any thought of debate to the contrary would appear irrational.

Having said that, the director throws so many red herrings and plot holes at the viewing audience that debate, nonetheless, is all but inevitable.

I think it would have been COOLER if the twist ending at the end had been that she REALLY WAS DEAD THE WHOLE TIME and that Liam Neeson was NOT burying a living woman but rather have the story turn out to be a haunting story involving a ghost but with the rare difference being that it was the ghost being "haunted" by a an undertaker who happened to have rare psychic powers of the ability to talk to the dead similar to the boy in 6th sense.

Having a ghost story where the creepy haunter is the person would be ironic as hell.

I agree 100%. There is no doubt what the situation is. Anna is alive and Deacon is a serial killer that has been doing this a long time. People speak of plot holes that allow for doubt. I don't see that. I agree that there could be some plot holes, but not regarding whether Anna was dead or alive. My biggest issue was the fact that she seemingly was involved in an automobile accident and never went through the hospital. Only EMT. That would never happen and even if she had been drugged to mimic death, a standard set of vital signs would prove that she is in fact alive. Additionally, he has done this a lot!! All of those "accidents" would have to bypass a physician as well. That's not at all likely or even probable...therefore it seems he would have gotten caught in this act. I doubt Paul is the first loved one to raise concerns. He also seems to do this continuously and no one in town is suspicious of any activity?? That's weird. But those are where I see the biggest plot holes. Her ability to run around the house is not probable given the parameters set by the movie with this drug, but that I was able to allow for suspension of disbelief because the scene was pivotal to the rest of the movie being able to happen. It was a necessary. What did bother me about it though was when Paul went to the police and he wanted a search of the funeral home and the police said they had no cause, he did. The boy told him he saw Anna in the upstairs window in a red dress. The boy later lied. But Paul never told the police someone else saw her alive and walking around the funeral home.

Agreed, with both comments.

Another clue I haven't seen pointed out yet here; Jack burying his chick after Eliot told him he had the power to see the dead as alive. Jack thought the chick was dead from the beginning, but Anna pointed out to him it wasn't dead. Jack was young and didn't put the 2 together, but the audience should. So if they believe Anna was actually dead the whole time, and Jack and Eliot really did have that power, that means Anna had the power too since she saw the "dead" chick as alive in the beginning.
Which is ridiculous.

And he kept injecting her with Hydronium Bromide" to keep her dead appearance. Also, why would he race back when he realized he left the key's in the house and she could escape?

I agree. And if I recall correctly there were scratch marks inside her coffin.
