given that i haven't seen it...
They should have used real actors for the acting, and skaters for the skating. It worked in gleaming the cube. Maybe that wasn't the best film on the planet, but it achieved believability. I understand why they didn't. Because they want the pros in the limelight. Skaters have big heads now and think they can act and rap and stuff. Maybe some can, but after seeing the trailer... these guys can't. They sacrificed quality for face time. The trailer seemed like half children's broadcast PSA, and half infomercial. It wasn't good. That's not how skaters act. That's not how humans act. And why the crap wasn't Berra in it? Him and Jason Lee are the only actors IN the pro community and neither is in it. And who they did use are lame. Seems like MTV just gave them a crapload of money to make it to me. Should have cast Carroll, Kirchart, Jamie Thomas, Dill... Guys you just know wouldn't be down to do it because they think it would be lame, so it would force them to make a decent product. Also, Rob is trying to make a movie about the streets... I love Robby D! Don't get me wrong, but he hasn't been to the streets in about 10 years. When did the DC video come out? His MindField part is about 45 seconds WITH filler, and at the beginning of it he actually says "*beep* the streets." I mean, given he just split his face open, but still. Anywaaaaay, skating is fun as crap. This movie seems to just make it look like something dangerous and cool to do like riding a motorcycle or shoplifting. When you skate, cops don't call out SWAT, red team go, tackle, and arrest you. Atleast, not in Dallas. I don't know about LA. Never been there. But considering 100% of Zero's videos are filmed there, it can't be that hard. They tell you to leave, and if you don't want to go to jail, you leave. Sometimes they're dicks, but cops are dicks. That's why they signed up. Dicks with guns. I'll probably see it, but I won't be paying. That is all.
