Poor chopstick technique.

Did anyone else notice that the daughter always used Chinese style chopsticks and had what I think of as excellent technique, but her father Mr. Shi used Japanese style chopsticks and could barely hold them let alone pick up any food? Am I missing something?

It's not poor chopstick technique. There could be a dozen better explanations for it than that. How about simple old age? The use of chopsticks requires more dexterity than Western tableware/cutlery, and that's one of the first things to go if/when arthritis sets in.
