'...comedy is not a critics' medium. It just isn't.'

In trying to justify the bad press for this crapfest, Steve Martin signs off with the above. I would say whilst giving some allowance for personal and cultural tastes, comedy is as transparent a medium as Mr. Martin's desperation to flog this dead horse.

Peter Sellers was a comic genius - and a not too shabby actor - whereas Steve Martin is the attention seeking show off who got lucky; until the 90s showed up.

While I hate what he's done to his career, I have to disagree somewhat. Martin is capable of being a very good actor too - Leap of Faith, Grand Canyon, LA Story show that as does the recent Shopgirl. He's just taken the easy option of picking any old crap that was offered for the most part, which is why seeing him in tripe like PP2 is so painful - he's better than that when he tries. He just doesn't try often enough.

It's a tender love song, very beautiful. {Whats it called?} Lick my love pump.
