7.3 must be a typo - even 3.7 would be charitable

I'm surprised that this movie isn't ranked in the IMDb Bottom 250. It is absolutely a remarkably disappointing film.

reply

Actually this has started to grow on me. I think I may actually like it. The Wes "Pretensious" Anderson movie that I really hate is that turd called "The Royal Tenenbaums".

reply

For a 'professor', you're a rather poor speller.

reply

dont be the spell check police. nobody likes them. it is a weak attack and an attempt to devalue a point or the person giving it. dont be weak

reply

Speak for yourself. Poor spellers aren't taken seriously. If a person learns to spell and write properly, it stays with them forever. Didn't your parents tell you this?

reply

I know people who are much smarter than me, who spell much worse than me. Give people a chance.

reply

"much smarter than me" "spell worse than me"

it's actually, "much smarter than I" "spell worse than I"

just sayin....

reply

Lol no actually it's not. No professional writer would ever write it that way. You're so silly. Just sayin...

reply

Ummmmmmm… Yes, "I" is the grammatically correct form. I know I'm writing this almost a year after the comment, but the point stands. You're basically chopping off the end of the sentence. "Friends who are smarter than I am" vs. "Friends who are smarter than me am". It's a rather important distinction to make. As for whether or not a professional writer would write it that way, maybe they would, but we live in an age where "professional writers" are people like John Green and Dan Brown.

reply

that's bc the language evolves over time. words get new meanings. people speak differently. we don't speak like Shakespeare anymore and that is a good thing. no one would ever say or write "smarter than I" without trying to be a pretentious snob. the language is loose and changing. the beats started free from. writing reflects the culture. and if you think were worse off today, just go back and get small pox 150 years ago and see how you fare. everything is better today. grow up.

reply

this hole argument (I spelled it that way on purpose) sounds like a scene from a wes anderson movie.

reply

not that this is a case of a typo, many people get attacked for typos

who gives a *beep* though about misspelling

the main problem is he said tenenbaums was a bad movie when it is one of the best movies ever

reply

It's almost always a valid point. If you can't spell, not including 2nd language learners, what are the chances your opinion is even worth considering? No point wasting time.

The only ones that don't like them are defensive, lazy, illiterate schmucks. I'm HAPPY when people point out my errors, because I'm INTERESTED in improving.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

I wish this forum had a Like button.

Those who can't spell and refuse to type properly, you need to understand that you're putting yourself across as a feeble minded twit. The only people who don't mind or notice are your fellow twits. It's simply the way it is.

reply

I was quite disappointed by the film, as well. Only the stunning, colorful scenes and glimpses of Indian culture saved this turkey. If you consider just the plot and dialogue, there's virtually nothing there.

very well said - i can't help thinking that people who see holes probably haven't got the relevant life experiences to get all that his films give

Can you elaborate on what exactly THIS film "gave" you? Thanks!!

"Maybe you have to bring something of your own to a Wes Anderson film in order for it to work on all levels. You have to fill in the blanks yourself, is the way I see it, but I realize a lot of people just see holes."
Wow. If I wanted to bring something to the movie and fill in the plot myself, I'd write the thing instead of paying to see a supposedly finished product. This film was a complete waste of my time.

This film was a complete waste of my time.

On the bright side, you wouldn't have done anything more constructive with the time.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

reply

Well said.

There aren't any Wes Anderson movies that I dislike, though I do have my favorites. Those vary by day, perhaps even time of day, and mood.

Can you elaborate on "so much" you're "able to take () away from it? Thanks!!

It's the journey of the brothers that pulled me right in. Personally, I loved the hell out of it.

If you think 3.7 would be charitable, by all means vote 2 or 1, that's your opinion. However, it seems that a lot of people got something out of this movie. I know I did, I found it beautiful and therefor gave it an 8.

reply

the movie is good, surely not great... plot was weak.. but the movie was splendidly well captured..

reply

I can see why you don't click with this movie. Its love or hate. I saw it in the theater and really liked it. Its better to experience it in a theater-like setting. Last time we saw it, we set up a projector on the wall to relive the experience.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

reply

Posts like these really irk me, it is not the idea of you disliking the film, more so the idea of you taking your time to write this slick comment, and not elaborating on WHAT exactly it was that you did not like about the film. If you are going to take your time, and make it a point for it to be known that you thought a movie was "remarkably disappointing" I would hope that you could also take the time to explain, or at least point out what it was you didn't like about the film.

Thanks.

For its rating, I was disappointed as well. Just finished watching it after seeing so many good reviews and I honestly dont know what all the talks about. It wasnt even really that engrossing throughout the entire thing - in the last half an hour or so I became so distracted I couldnt wait for it to finish. It was kinda predictable as well, and the acting wasnt too impressive. And thats when you know you've found a badly made movie! I felt they didnt really utilize much of the indian backdrop much either...which is a real shame.

reply

I concur.

I guess you're too young to understand, or your taste simply is more commercial & dense type of films.
