Creepy Steven

"The . . . redeeming feature is Florian Bartholomäi in the lead role as Karsten. He's cute, sweet and charming, and he comes light years closer than anybody else to acting something like a real human being. I can't believe he'd ever have looked twice at a shallow jerk like Steven if he hadn't been the first man who ever paid attention to him."

So I was not the only one who found Steven rather creepy. I think his feelings for Karsten were as cheap as the rags he was peddling. Maybe it would have worked if Karsten had been a bit slutty rather than sweet and utterly decent.

"Nothing personal. Your name just happened to come up."

Haha, that's really interesting...i didn't find Steven to be creepy at all. I was disappointed though that someone as nice as Karsten didn't end up with somebody as equally sweet.
Usually in these types of movies (gay romantic comedies) I get really annoyed when ]the two main guys don't end up together, but not in this movie. Steven was a charming enough character and a smooth-talker but he was WAY too old for Karsten; I mean, Karsten hadn't even started college yet - so i guess that, yeah, Steven was a little creepy.
My biggest disappointment, in an otherwise enjoyable movie though, is that Karsten's first time with a guy was a mere, short fling and not something more meaningful and subtanstial...but each to their own, i suppose.

We don't know if Steven was his first, ever. Karsten wasn't even that shy around him. Eager, yes, but definitely not shy.
I did have huge problem with their relationship though. As it is mentioned in this topic, Steven is shallow, a complete jerk to his dad and the relationship with Karsten didn't seem real at all. It looked like he's just fooling around with him and I really thought that Karsten saw right through him when he (Steven) was cleaning the dirt off the clothes at Brigitta's Guesthouse, not even listening to Karsten. At that moment Steven was just like his father. Arrogant, self-centered, he's always right, selling more clothes is the most important thing in the world kinda person. Still, I'm happy we get films like this one, where none of the lead actors die at the end.
