Vampires? Cain? Dumbass?

What kind of dumb moron makes a film about iraq named the mark of cain
any person with at least a minute knowledge of the bible or mythology would know that cain was the catalyst for the vampire myth not vlad the impaler and to name some british piece of gosa(firefly reference) after cain and have no real connection is just stupid. i am british myself but find this another dissapointment like most british films they spend too much time trying to compete with american films that they completely destroy most of the plot that made people originally want to watch the film. Dont get me wrong we have some amazing actors and some projects such as doctor who and jekyll (recent show by the bbc with jimmy nesbitt) can be amazingly inventive and imaginative but i found this film to be dissapointing in almost every way. i am slightly biased as i dont agreee with the war at all and think that all troops should have left them to their own devices why should we impopse ourselves on a nation that mostly hates the western world and tell them how to live at the expense of our own lives we saved them from a vicious dictator so we should get bthe hell out and let them build a new country without half of the population trying to blow western troops up.
its just oil leave them alone

it's from the speech by Col. Tim Collins on the eve of battle.
I'm a royal engineer btw, and I agree, Iraq is a heap.

Also, check your bible references more closely. according to the text, Cain becomes the first killer when he slays his brother Abel, with a rock. God then puts a mark upon his forehead, to mark him as such(a killer).
This is the mark of Cain.
In this movie i believe it was a metaphor for The feeling of guilt, of having done wrong, experienced by one of the two younger servicemen. This expressed itself in the movie by him having a feeling of never quite getting rid of the sand he felt covering him from Iraq, and thus engaging in exessive washing and bathing, trying to get rid of it( the sand, as a metaphor for the mark of Cain)
As for Vampires, i believe that myth could be said to originate with Lilith, who was supposed to have been the first wife of adam, in some apochryphical texts. Lilith is also known as a demon often active at nigth, in jewish folklore. The first origin of this figure can be traced to Sumerian mythology, from around the year 3000 B.C, where she appears as a storm demon, often associated with storms and wind, and thougth to be the bringer of disease, illness and death.

cain was the originator of murder, and therefore often associated with the dark side of humanity... the capacity for evil, mans inhumanity to man, etc..
however, i don't recall there being anything about cain drinking blood, or displaying any other "vampire-like" attributes, so i'm not sure where you got that idea. are all limeys as annoying as you (firefly reference)?
also, are you saying you're biased against the movie, because you're against the war? isn't this an anti-war movie. hmmm.
and I loved your statement:
"its just oil leave them alone"... good one. how old(/naive) are you? do you not know ANYthing about geo-politics in this ago of corporate imperialism, where oil corporations and the military-industrial complex have taken over the most powerful country in the history of the world? sure, i'm sure bushco, exxon, and haliburton will just leave them whats left of the oil and we'll all just immediately switch to solar power. jackass. go read a newspaper or something.

Obviously a fan of vampire the masquerade to presuppose that Cain was the originator of vampirism. There were some movies and books that related the mark of cain to lycanthropy but other than the white wolf productions not a whole lot that has Cain associated with vampirism.

However there is some old jewish folklore that says Lillith was the first wife of Adam and was cast away for her "unnatural" sexual predilections(she wanted to be on top). So she mated with demons. Creating well vampires. But even this is folklore not actually in the bible. Although a reference to lillith is made about the end of days.

I think maybe you just got your mythology confused there.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I bust out laughing when I read that this kid (Mark S Maynard 2005) thought that vampires were in some way associated with Cain. And the Bible! Pshaw! I seldom partake on the Masquerade and even I know that's just White wolf mythology.

Hey guys, I think I just figured out the difference between a geek and a fanboy!
