Bentley Little's THE HOUSE

I've yet to rent this movie, I'm still trying to decide if it's really going to be worth my time (although I hate to say that because I use every horror film that I watch as a learning experience)...Anyway, to the point! A few months back I read a book called The House by Bentley Little. Some elements from the book are similar to what I've read about this movie. Is there any connection between the two?
