unintentionally hilarious

did anyone else find parts of this absolutely hilarious?

reply

I certainly did. Honest to gawd, though, by the end of it I wonder if they meant it that way.

reply

Yup. Especially at the bit where the twist of the film happens and his narration starts to change, I burst out laughing. I seriously thought that it was going to turn out that the whole film had been a parody.

"girl with her puppies out, demon, old banana in pyjamas"

best line in the movie.

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground, try this sig with spinach!

"We carry on where we left off; I've got a right horn on"

I couldn't help but keep thinking the main guy looked like Renwick from Darkplace... And then he got all bloodied up! Had this actually been a parody, it would've been amazing. Alas no.

This film was definitely supposed to be comical in a sick/twisted/pitch-black sort of way. I thought that's what made it so terrifying. The protagonist/antagonist is making twisted wise-cracks while the other characters are screaming, bleeding and begging for their lives.

Yes, but I think it was intentional. We were seeing the delusions from the eyes of a crazy person without knowing, so a lot of the acting then was very exaggerated and melodramatic. Then when we know he's a crazy person, it is just funny because of what he does (i.e. end scene). I liked the movie for that reason, because it surprised me in that sense. The movie was far from great, but I thought it was okay. I would have liked The Signal a lot more for the same type of surprise humor, but unlike this movie that starts out serious and slowly gets funnier and funnier, The Signal went from very serious, to suddenly intentionally ridiculous and funny, and then tried to go immediately back to serious. That doesn't work well...
