I know I'm not conditioned to like this film, I also know that some British people don't even like it and I'm South African and I don't like it, so I would just like to know how is it possible that people can like a movie with the worst ending I've ever seen in a film and how can film makers deliberatly ruin a potentially good concept like this?

Its a B-Movie.
Don't expect it to be a Warner Bros classic.
The script was being constantly re-written during production. Thats why it may seem very changable in parts.
That said, i like it.
The film just felt completely ruined to me that's all, I think it has the worst ending ever, if you like it that's cool, I'm not going to call names or anything, I mainly would like to know how many people like it and how many people don't, I won't bash people that like it, I just would like to know how popular this thing is, because to me its total crap and after I watched the whole thing I was in a sour mood all day.

It would have been better if they had kept it simple, as there are a stupid amount of "fooling the audience" plot twists that play through out the film that annoy more than anything.
As for the ending, i guess they had far too many options to pick from.
Looking back on it, i'd probably take out the narration and a few of the twists to keep it more concise and faster moving.
It could have been better. But to me its a decent b-movie effort, as i've seen many more worse ones.
I feel the b-movie is a dying sub-genre and feel its my duty to praise and encourage independent horror filmmakers because these films often get slammed on first release and it often takes 10 to 20 years for these little movies to find their audience.
I've also seen a few bad independent films, but I have seen a few good ones that deserve the attention of a big audience, I often wish I could generate enough hype about some of them, but the hard thing about trying to advertise them is that you get films like HARRY POTTER, LORD OF THE RINGS, TRANSPORTER 3, and TERMINATOR: SALVATION, which are the films that people want to see because they're on the big screen, the trailers are shown on every network channel and they look so cool etc, and no matter how hard I try they'll always ask me "don't you have TRANSPORTER 3 or DEATH RACE?" as if those titles and many others are the only films in exsistence and it pi**es me off because a lot of independent films are very good and some of them are better than many mainstream films today, so what's the problem? Indie films films not good enough for anyone?

sharehonestly i thought it was a great movie, very twisted, granted it got slow and really corny right before the twist, but when they hit you, it hits hard, and you really cant believe it, i watched the movie knowing how it played out. Had i not got the rundown on what was going to happen, though, i probably wouldnt have gotten through more than half of it. That being said, i still have to give this movie at least an 8 for originality, and twistedness....
shareIf you watch the 'making of' bit, you can basically see that the whole thing was a mess. They obviously didn't have the time to stand back and look at it properly. I'm surprised they even made a movie out of it, actually.
Some people probably like it because they've not seen too many movies with that kind of ending. Or because they were expecting it to be the movie they were watching, and had their minds blown by that voiceover.

Watched it on DVD today, very generic if I must say so. Watched the extras and even the makers seemed to hate it.

I agree, this movie was not good at all, i had to watch the bonus features to find some explanation as to why they had bothered making it - and it seems even the director/writer is trying to distance himself from it. I guess it was a good idea but shocking execution. very hot girls in it though!

I enjoyed it. My expectations were not very high and I thought it was pretty good. All of you people that give this one star need to watch more films because this in no way deserves that low of a rating.

I liked it. It was an entertaining movie. I'm glad it wasn't another mainstream, mindless movie like Fast and the Furious, then again that's just my opinion. People have different tastes. Some will like it, some won't.
shareI agree with you seriously Jhpstrydom. The movie really isn't a masterpiece like say, Good Will Hunting is.
But just to put it in perspective of why it's worth watching: GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra.
Just watch that pile of poo set on fire, dumped in a vat of vomit, all spritz and poured on top of an pungent smelling pile of dead animals. I mean, it stank WORSE then that. GI Joe is the worst film ever made.
Because, watching this reminds you, not all bad movies are as God awful, make seem jumping from a tall building and french kissing the inside of a 3 day old dead rats open stomach is a better idea then watching GI Joe is.
I would rather watch this guy with the AXE then just 5 minutes of Vanilla Ice playing Duke again.
This film actually makes me smile too, because the story starts and ends, which too many crappy franchises can't even manage to do.
Truly though, the style in which this was filmed has to get strong positive reviews from you?
Like I said, it starts, has a story that is easy to comprehend yet gets you thinking and then it ends tying up all the loose ends.
HOW MANY! HOW! MANY! movies have you seen do that in the last 15 years?
Not to mention, the actors, in comparison to everyone but Christopher Eccleston and Dennis Quaid on the GI Joe film, made them look like they just starred in Schindlers List in terms of skill.
Watch GI Joe, then watch this and you will see what I mean. I don't know if GI Joe will create a jaded view on film with you like it did with me. But seriously you can't deniegh the fact that they actually hired real actors in this film and they had an original story. Be it weird. This movie still is 70 gigatreptillion times better then some garbage stank of a film like GI Joe.

i absolutely hate it. i was watching something crap (freezeframe and sweary voiceover) that made me laugh, the gore was alright, the monster was awesome. the ending was very annoying and insulting i thought, as if they made a deliberately crap film with a cool monster to take the p*ss out of me at the end and call me an idiot for enjoying it, then subjecting me to twenty minutes of out of place shock tactics.
i hate it.
I thought it was okay, but it could have been much better. There were so many aspects of this that seemed unnecessary. (especially the kissing of the imaginary girl at the end) I wasn't really upset by the ending, but it left me feeling a bit neutral on the whole movie. I still can't really say if I liked it or not. I would have liked it better if the chair really did exist though. Finding out that nothing that you've just watched really happened is annoying to me most of the time. That said, it wasn't a waste of my time to watch. It had interesting parts to it and I actually liked a lot of the narration.
