Was anyone upset by the ending?

I mean, I pretty much figured what was gonna happen at the end, but it still made me really sad. I guess I was rooting for Nick and Rachel.

I guess I was more grossed out than upset. I really don't want to say anything at all cause I at least know for myself that a little info might be too much in my opinion that's why I never read reviews anymore. People should just see it if they like twisted. I did have to look away. It's just demented. I'll give the people involved this though: Finally someone got it right and used fake blood in a movie that actually looks real. Congrats to the special effects/make up people.

I loved the ending! It upgraded the whole movie.

Plot wise, it was a disturbing, great (if not predictable) little twist that really hammered its point home after you had developed some attachments between the characters. I was also rooting for Nick and Rachel, so to watch him do what he did to her come the ending was doubly disturbing.

I was really surpised by the ending, it was like something from an American run Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay.

Didn't know what to expect from the movie but thought it was quite decent and interesting.

Damn! I hate replying to such an old thread, but I avoided this movie for a long time because of the rating, but I'm glad I finally watched it.

Don't get me wrong, this movie does have it's issues and I can understand why people would rate it low. However... I absolutely freaking loved it! I loved the practical effects and the sheer brutality towards the end.

Not to sound too weird or anything, but this movie kinda reminded me of a very bad mushroom trip I had when I was younger. I basically saw hell and the devil and it was as if the people responsible for this movie had a direct view of my brain when it happened and turned it into a film. I'm not exaggerating either lol. Two of my friends I was tripping with had religious awakenings and have been Christian's ever since.

Anyways, this movie really had an affect on me, and not in a bad way like you might think, given my story. I don't know how to explain it, but it was almost therapeutic in some way lol.

I felt that this movie felt cheap up until that point. The costuming, the premise, everything felt gimmicky, like a joke. And as the ending creeps up on you, we realize that it's too unreal to be real, even as a movie. Nick tells us this towards the end through the excellent narration throughout the film. And then all of a sudden we're struck with reality, and it's a terrifying one. The movie is no longer about cheap looking demons and satanic chairs, it's about how monstrous insanity can be. The mood changed instantly from an easy going monster movie, to a real, visceral drama. It hit me so hard because I wasn't expecting it despite the hundreds of clues that have been poked around throughout the film. I think the silly plot worked for the film in every way once we realize it was all happening in his head. It just makes perfect sense. We're seeing one thing, just like him, and we thought it was real, just like him, but then everything goes to hell and everything falls into place perfectly.

I think the ending made the movie as perfect as it could have been. If it wasn't for the ending, it would have been another average horror movie, but the ending made it special.

That sums up exactly how I feel too, and it gives the movie a couple of extra stars for me. It starts off predictable but then goes off onto an almost noir-like narration full of cliches and immature dialogue, which then leads to even more predictable outcomes and cheesier scenes and dialogue that even Ed Wood wouldn't include in a movie. But when the twist arrives everything falls into place.

This director took a huge gamble because those not willing to persevere with the movie may walk out of the theatre before they have time torealise that the middle of the movie is the way it is on purpose.

i was insulted. we watched the film, laughing at how poor it was, then the lead character says to us "are you enjoying yourself? you thought this was a crap horror movie with a cool monster? i bet you even laughed when we wanted you to. you're an idiot, look this is brutal isnt it. har har har"

i hated it. it seemed to me like a stupid point being made poorly.

maybe you just don't like being insulted

The ending that showed the actual "reality" in broad daylight actually bugged me a HELLUVA lot more then the dark "demon" fantasy...All the hacking, slashing & blood...the brutality...pretty sick stuff. not a bad movie at all!

...not "upset", but when they got to the part...

**Spoilers**

...when he was in the car and that girl was talking backwards was, to me, the trippiest part of the movie...and that's saying something after he went on that tear! Then they've got him kissing the air, I went from being freaked out by that backward speaking stuff to laughing at the guy frenching the air lol

It was certainly a movie that invoked a lot of different emotions from people, as I read these threads on it...

The only thing that really ruined it for me and upset me was the rape. It came out of nowhere and was just really, really sad to me
