I've never felt my face make the expression it did while watching this movie. A mix of cringing, awkward, baffled embarrassment took over me. Given the subject matter, I think it was the appropriate response.
Five seconds in, I said to my friend "I don't think I like this." 20 minutes in they were asleep. Was this supposed to be funny? It felt like a perpetually uncomfortable disaster. I remember the original movies being great, and the tv show being so out there, it was genius.
This is what happens when Judd Apotow gets his hands on, well, anything.

No... the original ones were great because you watched them as a kid. What did you really expect?

Yes... they are great for nostalgic reasons but It would suck if a grown man just watched it for the first time, lol.

I didn't see Big Adventure til I was in college and I thought it was fantastic. The appeal of the original is pretty universal.

I thought it was pretty good actually. Not as good as Big Adventure, but still fun in its own right. It hit all the Pee Wee beats and did its own thing.
