Arn's companions towards the end

Did anyone else pick up on the fact that one of his companions during the end of the movie seemed to be Arab? It was not clear, but maybe this was one of the differences between the series and the movie. It was jarring to suddenly see companions and there was no backstory or other explanation.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

I would suggest buying the books. The third book, Kingdom at Roads End(or Birth of a Kingdom for US release) explains why he brought people from several backrounds back to Sweden with him. Not only does he have arabs with him. He has some Armenian Christians as well as some others including his second sergant Harald who is seen but not introduced in the moves who is Norwegian but was with Arn in the Templars.

Harald shows up in the second movie though, where he is played by a Norwegian actor.

Intelligence and purity.

He doesn't show up at the abbey for the re-uniting alone, and that's not a band of traveling minstrels. While not /explained/ it's pretty clear he traveled with some others from his Crusades areas.

Travel being what it was, and with his captivity/rescue that is the sort of thing that could probably be a whole book itself. So, I was fine taking it as read. I did like that they didn't go away, but some were visible on line in the final battle scene.

He was actually one of several sent with him by Salahadin. You can see this as he's just leaving Saladin's area with several companions.(In the extended version) Presumably protectors provided by Saladin himself to insure his safe return home. They are even at the final battle, yes they are Muslims.
