7 dollars.

reply

This would be the most reasonable choice.

The first post crashed to jake gyllenhaal :') damn that dude really cant act. And can you seriously imagine him as a knight?

reply

Well, he would at least be way better than the Swedish dude playing Arn...

reply

First of, the movie needs not a Hollywood remake.

And second: Sean Bean is one of my favorite actors, but Stellan Skarsgard is too, and since he has experience in Hollywood movies, if a remake is ever done, he should reprise his role as Brosa again.

Life is precious, and it’s our own - not any god’s.

reply

Birger Brosa: Sean Bean

Totally agree. Arn's Birger Brosa was LOTR-Boromir's doppelganger

reply

Whoever put Robert Redford and David Hasselhoff down for the lead please put the crack pipe down. Both of these guys are waaaaayyyy past their prime and are no longer given leads in movies. Unless you consider "Anaconda 2," a mainstream movie. This move will not get remade 'cause in case you have not heard there was a movie called "Kingdom of Heaven," made by a very famous director, Ridley Scott, already and no studio would back a remake of this. Great imagination but welcome to reality.

I have nothing against Emmy Rossum, I love her in the "Phantom of the opera" but WHY anyone would cast her as Cecilia is beoynd me. :)

reply

I would like to nominate
Christopher Walken as ARN if there is a remake. Since we are nominating old dudes.

reply

I agree. While this thread was a great academic exercise, I thoroughly enjoyed watching actors I DIDN'T recognize from other films so I wasn't distracted by any of their previous roles. While I am proud to be an American, there's a talented world beyond the shores of the USA and I appreciate the opportunity to see it.

I think you'll find that they were joking.

Hollywood's aim isn't to take foreign efforts and turn them into rubbish: it wants to turn them into MONEY. Maybe half a dozen successful foreign films, max, are remade for American/international audiences in a given year, and occasionally they are better movies, if only because of higher production values and more skilled actors. You'll find if you look that American remakes don't steal the originals. They pay for the rights, and the original producers, screenwriters, novelists, whoever, are more than happy to sell them, for a payday they'd never get at home and perhaps for an chance to extend their own cultural reach.

So we don't pinch everything, Ada. We're actually pretty picky. For what's it's worth, almost all American film production is homegrown content. A lot of it is crap, but then a lot of every 'cultural' enterprise is crap regardless of origin. Do you think every French movie is a masterpiece? Whatever our crimes against civilization, we do deliver a Woody Allen movie every year without fail, sometimes (not always) with a thick Noo Yawk accent.

You should really ethnically cast them. Jack Gyllenhaal is an OK choice because he is partly Swedish and looks it, as are Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhaal and some can pass as Swedish, but it would still be better to ethnically cast them with people of Swedish descent or Sweded: Stellan Skarsgard could easily reprise his role, or maybe Russell Crow, who isn't Swedish but he is of Norwegian ancestry and might be able to fill that role as he looks a lot like Stellan and sounds like him.

And I think Michelle Williams would be a good choice for Cecilia Algotsdotter as her mother was Scandinavian (Carla Ingrid Swenson) and she looks very stereotypically Swedish.

I do not want to criticize your choices too much as you picked some good actors, but I am sort of sick of Hollywood casting anyone but Scandinavians for Scandinavian roles as they usually do.

I think Matt Damon would be able to play Erik Jedvardsson.

And you would be shooting yourself in the foot, seeing as how Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven, the market competitor this film, had already swept the market years earlier.

reply

Wow, I think I actually just threw up a little in my own mouth.

So you want to pollute that which is really quite brilliant with Jake Gyllenhaal and Owen Wilson? It's probably best if you stick to watching The Fast & Furious movies and leave the grown up movies to those who are old enough to drink.

Pointless thread and I think those whom have already mocked you have summned it up nicely.

Abashed the Devil stood and felt how awful goodness is.

reply

Simply...no. I haven't seen this film yet but Hollywood has already *beep* itself up, leave the remakes to quality film industries outside a studio which has one thought:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If Hollywood wanted to make a film about a templar they'd hurry up with that Assassin's Creed film. Why? Because THAT is all Hollywood is good for! Stupid, *beep* garbage - which is probably what they'll do with Assassin's Creed (I liked the games but even I know Hollywood will *beep* it up, they always do).

Goth for LIFE!
