Anybody Else Think This Show Isn't Funny?

I've watched two episodes and didn't laugh once. Please don't think this is about the show having gay characters because I could care less, I just don't think the jokes are funny.

Well then you obviously can't relate to the jokes/topics being satirized. A lot of the "black" jokes on the boondocks I don't find funny at all yet my friends practically bawl over them.

A lot of the jokes are based on the gay culture. I'm not trying to invalidate your opinion, but, while I love this show, I kept thinking to myself during the first few eps that straight people wouldn't get half of the jokes.

That's totally it. My sister watched a couple episodes with me and when I would burst out laughing she would give me a confused look and at one point got up and said "I'm watching something else... I don't have any idea what they're saying."

It's like making a middle-aged heterosexual white guy listen to Margaret Cho; what they understand, they just find offensive rather than humorous.

It's just not funny. I don't laugh at lego trying to be funny just because they are gay.

No, it's you who doesn't understand gay culture. Why should I laugh at an old man with a young partner? It has to be funny, not just true.

I felt the need to post because I'm someone who's very, very gay but doesn't like the show. I know more about queer culture than anyone my age should (seriously, the things I could do instead with that space in my brain...) but I still don't find the show funny.

I went into it wanting to love it. Lesbians! Lego! Margaret Cho! Billy West! Sparkley Lego drag queen! but....no. Some of the stuff is mildly creative, like the grey straight world but most of it falls totally flat for me.

Sometimes I wonder if the jokes are actually jokes or just really offensive statements. Not that I'm offended by any of it at all, but it seems like it's trying to be really non-PC and mostly it's just not funny.

Same here! I'm gay and I didn't find it funny. I guess people just have different sense of humor. Being gay doesn't help if you just don't like the jokes.

Nope, I find it hilarious. Although most of my straight friends who've seen it don't really get all of it.

This show laughs at political correctness while using kid gloves. It's the cute way it's so boldly offensive that gives it such endearing humor. Really militant left-wing gays who take things too seriously will be made just as uncomfortable as any out-of-the-loop right wing nut. This show is for the rest of us, who enjoy poking fun at all the silliness in our culture. I agree with those who call it a gay community South Park. That's exactly what it's like. Folks with an agenda to make the world they want it to be will not have the stomach for it. It's a brilliant show.
