So, I noticed at the end of the movie that Pablo asks what the date is, his sister replies that it is September 10th 2001. Pablo then saids something like tomorrow the world will be a better place....

Did anyone else catch this and I wonder what the meaning of that really was....

I caught it. It was hard to miss. It means that contrary to Pablo's optimism, the state will still torture and abuse people.

It was the day before the September 11 attacks. The abuses committed by the dictatorship of Chile, would continue with the excuse of the war on terror. Just for the history, the military coup in Chile started on September 11, 1973.
