Mother and Son, huh?

This movie was so odd, the mother and her son constantly look like they are about to start making out. I'm sorry but those two actors were miscast together, Gabrielle Anwar is a hot woman and the son is a hot man, and you could feel the sexual tension between the two in practically every scene they had together. I didn't get a mother/son vibe at all: either the son should have been cast as someone alot younger [looking], or the mother should have been played by someone older and less overtly desirable.

In every scene they had together, I thought "Oh come on. These two are more like boyfriend and girlfriend, not mother and son!"

I watched this the other night and I thought the same thing....I wondered if it was just me, apparently not.

I was thinking the same thing throughout the whole movie. They looked like they were about to start making out any second. It kinda creeped me out.

I agree at the beach when they first went out and the music they played with the scene, I felt like they were more lovers getting to know eack other then mother and son.

I saw this movie for the first time yesterday and I felt the same exact way watching it. It was a bit disturbing. I for some reason could see Chace's character trying to go after her in a more 'boyfriend/girlfriend' sort of way rather than 'mother/son.' It kinda creeped me out a bit.

Well, the actor looked a little old to be her son, but I think they looked about the right ages for the most part. And those weird moments between them were to be expected. I mean, the mother was trying to figure out if that was her son, and the son didn't know that was his mother, so maybe he was a little attracted to her at first, but I didn't think it was creepy. I think he was just a generally friendly guy.

I agree. That scene at the end, where they embrace after he learns she's his mother, looked overtly sexual to me. She could have at least dressed less revealing.

reply

Right, wear a string bikini in front of a kid who doesn't know you're his mother. Sure.

reply

That actor was too old to be her son.

reply

The character of her son was 18 years old. Chase Crawford was 20 when this was filmed, not that great a difference. The issue is Kristen, the mother, who looks way too young for her character's age.

reply

I agree, I just saw this and the scene where he comes back to the beach and she's laying there showing off her beautiful tan up and down her body, what guy wouldn't respond to that by trying to flirt or get a little closer.

I feel bad for my son...he gets a one piece sarong wearing mom with no sexual chemistry...I hope he turns out ok

I felt the same way.. Even when she looks at her son the first time.. it's like.. I saw longing in her eyes lmao not motherly love.. just ... sexual stuff. I was like this is too weird.

I just saw this movie on syndication. I usually watch the TV muted as I'm only a causal viewer. +, I had the British Open on ABC on the P.I.P. I was 4tunate enough 2 learn the film's title so I could discover it on this website. When I saw who I also learned was the gorgeous Gabrielle Anwar ("Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken"; "Scent of a Woman" check her out on Maxim.com) meat the strapping young man, I thought that they were gonna fall in love & start doing it in the water, judging by the age range they were both in. I guess she knocked up as a teenager, than.

Incidentally, I didn't watch the beginning. Was Anwar in any water scenes other then the one where she fell off the raft & was almost eaten by the shark? She did look amazing in her bikini (albeit conversing w/ her long-lost boy), but I wonder if she was in another bathing suit & in the pool or the c earlier in the movie?

That's funny, I felt the same way. I thought it was touching when he taught her how to dive and thought "Hey, here's a nice love story, older woman, younger man." Except it isn't that at all. totally unepected.

I agree with all of you. The chemistry between the two of them felt more like it was between boyfriend and girlfriend, not mother and son.

LOL! I'm watching it right now and I actually got on here to see if anyone had made a comment regarding this already. I tuned in right when the mother first spied the son coming out of the water and wringing his hair out. He looked like an adonis in that slightly slo-mo clip and I thought she was going to bang him. Then when I turned on the program description and saw it was a mother-son relationship I was creeped out. And yes, the string bikini was a bit much. I know she's in the tropics...but if you're trying to find your long-lost son wouldn't at least pack a few more conservative outfits?

I just saw it, again, and would have loved to take a big ol' bite out of her a$$ on that beach.

I thought so too. Plus there is a 15 yr age difference between son/mother. Now really!!!,

I agree -- GA looks too young to be the mother and she wears scanty clothes. I thought I might be the only one to feel this way, but I see I am not.

This movie is taboo. Too weird.
