Um, no, I don't find it odd that a 4 year old would lose the memory of how his mother looked, especially as he had no pictures of her. My youngest nephew was adopted right before his 4th birthday and his memories of his life before joining our family are few and he's only 11 now.

I don't find it odd that he didn't forget her, however I do find it odd that he remembers the last lesson we see his mother teach him before he disappears. "You know there's no such word as can't in the dictionary?" I doubt the father chimed in on the lesson he wasn't even there for when she'd said it to him.
