Chain Reaction

The best way to describe this show is that the front game is basically Password with a twist followed by a notoriously difficult bonus round that is more like Pyramid - except ten times harder!! This could have been such a good show and had a lot of potential. The show was ruined by three things.

1. A terrible host. Yes he got some better over time, but he was still way too stiff and robotic.
2. Low prize payouts especially when compared to other Millionaire-style shows of the day.
3. Idiot contestants that seemed to have no clue how to play the game, especially the notoriously difficult bonus round.

Sometimes teams would come on the show and know how to play it. These teams actually did well. Unfortunately this was the exception rather than the rule. As I said this could have been a good show. Chain Reaction somehow missed the mark.

I like this game show, but I hate the final round. I like game shows where I can play along and are somewhat challenging. The final round is like watching Pyramid, it's no fun to watch as you can't play along with it. You just have to watch in frustration as the idiots miss really obvious clues or pass on words that are so easy. I'd rather the final round be nothing but speed chains, similar to how Lingo does their final round.

As for the prize payouts, who cares? I'm not winning anything from this game sitting on my couch, I couldn't care less if the contestants win $5K or $5 mil. I'm not seeing a penny of that, I just want to watch a game show I can play along with.
