Do they intentionally invite contestants who suck?

This game is very easy and yet the contestants don't seem to have a clue!

I have to watch this practically everyday because I work at a bar, I rip my hair out at some of these morons answers.
They're under pressure, they're on TV blah blah. Come on.

Like today, like right now:

snake
ski

"is it skies?"
OH MY GOD!

I left my lunch pail on the bus. And I'm having a baby.

I know this is over a year later, but I saw this post and had to respond. When this show first aired it was after about two weeks of taping. They did a casting call, and I happened to be one of the first contestants. They taught us how to play the game literally right before we actually played it. Add all the crazy dry ice, lighting, and a live audience and this was quite intimidating. I still haven't actually seen this show on tv. However, I sure know how to play it a lot better now that the pressure is off. I won my game, but I'm pretty embarrassed about some of my ridiculous answers. Granted the money helped me get over it. =)

I caught a pretty epic failure on an episode today at the end of the game. The word was "Cookie-cutter" and the clue the two girls gave their friend was "Something you cut your dough with." The girl buzzed in and "Lawnmower" came out of her mouth.

Lawnmower. Really. You cut your dough with a lawnmower.

I think it's being on TV. Yes there are not-so-bright contestants but there's added pressure with cameras and lights and I'm sure nerves kick in, too.

What I find hilarious is that some of the contestants have East Coast accents and even Dylan Lane has to repeat their guess loudly and emphatically because he knows the viewing audience didn't understand. hahaha

Also, some of the chains are too old for these young contestants. I don't blame them for not knowing them since no has used that chain since the 70's. hahaha
