Who does the music for How's it Made?

There doesn't seem to be any information on who plays and writes that cool music score for the series. Anybody know?

Thanks!

Peace

I know what you mean about the Daft Punk. That theme song gets stuck in my head sometimes.

I hadn't thought of that but now that you mention that I can see what you mean.

The title music might be by this guy called Global Goon, but I can't find anything to confirm this.

When I added this show to the database, I could swear I included who did the music. There is a website for How It's Made with some info. If you watch closely during the credits, it will say Music... Sorry I can't remember.

LOL! On the show's forum page, everyone HATES the music! I work as an industrial designer. When I visit different factories, I whistle the theme, most people 'get it'.

reply

The music is the best part of the show. It brings the perfect mood to the visuals.

reply

To each his own, I guess... The music seems to dumb the whole series down, imo and is the most annoying part of the show; especially the reoccurring musak variation of what is apparently Lionel Richie's "All night long". You know which one I'm talking about...

it's like chewing on foil.

reply

Hehe, I suppose it's a matter of opinion as you say. I personally like the music, both by itself and along with the visuals. I suppose for me the electronic music sort of goes together well with the many electronical processes going on in alot of factories etc.

As for who makes the music, I know it was something like "Gizondo" or some other fairly similar name. I'm pretty sure there was a Z in there.

I've seen a thread about it before, but can't find it now.

EDIT: "Dazmo Musique" does the music. http://dazmomusique.com/

I can't stand the music my self and the volume makes an otherwise good show unwatchable for me.

I don't know how anyone can hate the music.
It sounds creative and really suites the programme.

I can tell you that the show music (not title) was composed on a Korg Karma keyboard. I used to have one and I recognized a LOT of the sounds from H.I.M. A lot of the grooves weren't changed that much from what comes with the Karma.

Here's a link to the demo mp3s for the Karma, scroll down to where it says (2) KARMA GE (Generated Effect) Demos ...click on "GE Intro And Combinations" If you don't want to hear the cool sounds this keyboard can make, fast forward to 1:47 You will hear something very familiar! hah! I also think the vocal sound at 2:40 have been used too. Have fun

I've been playing keyboards since I was 3 years old, and like to think I love all kinds of music, but GOD. Watch this show enough and you start to hate it. It's too intrusive. Plus it wakes up the cats every damn time.

Now the new music... (or what appears to be new for the 2007 episodes), some of that is excellent. One piece in particular was beautiful. Guess budget really does matter.

Throbbin Hood, thanks for those audio examples, very nice to listen to. Lovely sounds. :)

If you're talking about the segment music, Seasons 1-7 credit Jean-Francois Fabiano, Eric Razenhofer, and Maj Music Publishing. Seasons 8-14 credit Kevin Tighe and all other seasons are Tahmas Barany.

if only they would release a full soundtrack, love those background music

reply

As near as I can tell, the music (not the theme which is pretty cool but the segment background music) is made by a chimp, or perhaps young child, with no rudimentary concept of harmony or composition. Bits of it work here and there, presumably by accident. But generally it makes the show almost unwatchable. I truly suspect the culprit is a producer or family member of someone involved with the show that can't be fired. The relative lack of info about who it is, and any other professional credits they might have, is surely no accident. If anyone likes it, no offense and more power to you, but to anyone who has the slightest training in music or composition, even as electronica it's kind of an abomination. It's certainly the least professional music I've ever heard in a network show.

reply

I totally agree with fredproggh. The music is extremely amateurish and highly annoying.
