This film looks atrocious and makes me wish I never lived in Palo Alto

Okay...as someone who lived in Palo Alto for 10 years, it's nice that there is a movie being made about it. But good God, I think the trailer was, without exaggeration, the most generic, cliche trailer I have ever watched. It barely looked real to me, it looked more like a parody of this kind of movie. I mean, seriously..."Dude! No! These are supposed to be the best years of your life!" The cutesy guy who won't go talk to the girl, the sappy music at the end, ugh...not to mention the lesbian scene, yeah that was reeeeal classy. This is just my opinion, but I'm afraid when all is said and done I'm going to wish I had never even heard of Palo Alto.

You sound like a negative prick. Period.

i agree that it doesn't look like a film that is totally original,
but i think it looks very heartfelt and genuine.

it looks like the refreshing type of film that you can watch over and over again and still find something to identify with each time

Bang, bang
my baby shot me down

You are free to think that, but I'm entitled to my opinion. Period.

im offended by one specific part of ur ignorant statement...about the "sappy music at the end"
the song is "This Heartbreak World (Graduation)" by Matt Nathanson...who is an INCREDIBLE songwriter who NEVER uses cliche lyrics and is a brilliant songwriter...maybe if you took time to listen to the words, you wouldnt make such ignorant statements.

Matt Nathanson is my Jesus.

i just saw it at a private screening and let me tell you.. the trailer doesnt do it any justice; its basically a completley different movie, those lines you mentioned really arent cheesy when your watching it, its much more of a situational comedy then the dramatic cliche film the trailer portraits

Matt Nathanson is my jesus as well, and I hope that this movie is better than the trailer.

I saw the film at Tribeca today, and as others have already said, the trailer does the movie no justice. It really is a great movie, one of the best that I've seen at Tribeca this year, if not THE best. The movie takes place in Palo Alto since that is where the writer and director grew, but by no means is it particular to the town. And don't worry, it doesn't make the place look bad. Hey, I wouldn't mind living there after seeing this movie.

matty nay nay IS jesus

Interestingly enough, the producer, writer, and director all grew up together in Palo Alto.

they were all high school friends (q&a session after UCLA screening woot!)

Could be worse. You could live in Menlo Park, so stop whining.

Btw, there are no classless lesbian scenes, only classless viewers of same.
