WAS THE OLD MAN GAY?

From the first scene in the kitchen and every time scenes occurred in there, the camera would show men grabbing the old man's buttocks. Actually the first time in happened the old man was the culprit. Then again the reaction of the interloper (the bad boy) to the fact that the old man was sewing reinforced that there was some suggestion of gender identity issues. I found this a good source of suspense as I keep waiting for it to be revealed. Even the sexual reaction of the lost son while he and the drug addict girl were having sex for the John's delight again suggested that he felt violated not because of the act itself (yes that) but more so because he felt the John was deriving pleasure from looking upon him.

I began to suspect that a subplot might be that that illegal immigrants may be objects of sexual perversions, prostitution and pedophiles even though homosexuality is not no longer candidly aligned with any of those in western cinema. Given that this was a foreign film,I left my reading open to misinterpretation yet felt I would do better to get others opinions.
