I've read a few reviews that said "She looks too much like American Top Model" or "too pretty" to be a sexually abused child prostitute.

I disagree. She looks exactly like an older version of Ryan Simpkins. But her eyes are mainly what have me convinced. In some scenes Jacobs' eyes are very innocent looking, with a hint of pain. In other scenes, they look like "old" eyes: tired, worn, hard. Her complexion and hair might be a bit "too pretty", but her eyes really tell you something.

What a silly thing to say-"she's too pretty." Pretty girls can come from fcked up backgrounds just as well as the "not-so-pretty" girls. There are beautiful prostitutes whose only purpose is to be used for as long as they could remember. Look@ the porn industry-most of those girs are 'pretty'; do you ask why they are making degrading smut films instead of being on a runway?? That lifestyle is a state of mind that does NOT descriminate based on looks. Most of the time drugs play a huge part, so I don't see how it's unbelievable-pretty girls get strung out and can hit rock bottom just like anyone else could.

But I do think did think that she looked to clean and healthy to be living rough like that.

Well, it is, afterall, just a movie. Honestly she looked 'rough around the edges' to me-she had a worn, tired look about her. She didn't appear high maintainence or anything. Hookers know how to keep themselves up to a degree while living in the streets-you saw how they used public facilities to 'groom' themselves. It's only when they are heavily strung out do they appear 'unhealthy' looking. I don't think her substance abuse had gotten her to the point of looking dirty and disheveled.

Yes she does look like Ryan Simpkins. But I was one person who thought she was too pretty/hot to be living like that. It was kind of distracting to find her so attractive and removed me a bit from the story.

But it's not unrealistic for her to be pretty. She was still supposed to be 17 in the movie so good genes would let her looks stand up to that lifestyle at that age. The rough life would take a little longer to start taking a toll on her looks.
