mmmmrdarcy, I'm responding because your signature is quite possibly the most romantic line in films.
Children of Men is a masterpiece, and its exclusion is one of the most inexcusable Oscar snubs of all time.
On that note, I really liked Clive Owen. The role of Theo isn't a flashy one, but he just gets so deep into his role it's sort of a miracle. Watching him envoked the same feeling I got when I say Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, which is really magical.
I know that everyone loved Forrest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland, but personally I prefer the more subtle performances, so I think that James McAvoy should've gotten a Best Supporting Actor nod, even though he probably has more scenes than Whitaker. The way he delivers the line, "You're a child. That's what makes you so f___ing scary," is just so chilling. And you know what? He's right.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was amazing in the slightly wobbly drama Sherrybaby. To see an actress go so far and do it so fearlessly, you can almost feel a star being born.
Did he train you? Did he rehearse you? Did he tell you *exactly* what to do, what to say?!
