Vanaja

I've just seen Vanaja as part of the 2007 Sydney Film Festival and thought it was an OK film that never reached any great heights.I found the dancing, music and scenery ultimately as involving as the plot, and that cannot be good for the film as a whole.The acting was generally veyr good though I found the bad son a poor match for the women actors who were all very good. The scenes didn't always connect seamlessly and a disjointed feel crept into the latter half of the film, and the ending was far too lame for the subject matter and quite unsatisfactory. A good enough film heightened by the marvellous dancing and music scenes.
